I Had 2 Surgeries

Okay, okay...it wasn't like that.

I thought I was going to have stuff to carry me through recovery, but I didn't get that far.

Nope.

I just had 2 surgeries. One got moved up by a month because, apparently, I'm a "fast healer". Not Wolverine fast. I'm like that hero who has a 2 for Healing on a Marvel trading card.

My recovery has primarily been chillin' in a recliner and having a tough time being mobile. Then, I got a call the day before my birthday, from the doctor, asking if I would be down for my second surgery on the following Monday (4 days after the call). I was like "totally!" and thus the second surgery commenced.

A big thing that I've been dealing with is a raging case of insomnia. What time is it? When 3pm and 2am feel the same, you know you have a bit of a problem. To make things worse, 2 solid weeks in a recliner (had to stay in a "banana" position) just made my perception of time bonkers. I had like 1-1/2 weeks where I was moving around normally, but the insomnia raged hard, before that phone call in early December.

In case you're wondering, that second surgery was on a Monday and I hit a comedy show on Thursday. I didn't feel great and it was -35F, but I still got my butt out to do something.

I also have been down a DEEP writing hole...like...what am I on now? Almost 400 pages or whatever of an X-Men fanfic. Don't judge me.

I'm good. I'm trying to get back on schedule. It's been like -30F to -45F around here, so I have NOT been outside (I'm supposed to avoid falls; ice and snow aren't great for that) and I have not been on patrol.

Anyway, that's my update.

Below are 3 projects I'm currently working on: RLSH Demographics Survey, Notes From The Rooftops (which might just get cancelled), and a potential comic book project (but the deadline is coming up and no one has submitted anything).

On an entire other note, if you are an RLSH, please take a moment to fill out this RLSH 2025 Demographics Survey. It's anonymous. NEW PROJECT.  I'm starting a new RLSH Annual Comic Book Project. (tabs up top: Resources > Comic Book Project). This is a collection of short RLSH tales in an anthology type of graphic novel. Looking for artists, editors, and RLSH to share their stories. Deadline is Dec. 31.
