RLSH Work: Community Service

Community service includes, but isn’t limited to: working with the literacy council, volunteering at the soup kitchen, assisting with local area clean up work, educational volunteer work, disaster recovery, disaster support (like feeding forest fire fighters), volunteering with the food bank, volunteering to work with the elderly or youth, and volunteering at the animal shelter.
By focusing on community service work as an RLSH, you will naturally draw attention to the work being done. If this is your main RLSH work, you will want to invest in a top notch uniform. Armor and tech aren’t going to really be needed. You will just be after the look of the superhero and making a presence on social media and local news.
It is always recommended to get your first aid/CPR/AED certification, just in case something does happen. Depending on who you work with, you may want to look into de-escalation training. You should have an idea of how to operate social media and you may want to take a social media marketing course, since you want your work to be very visible. If you are not a great public speaker, you can take some communication classes or perform in community theater - both of which will give you plenty of communication experience.
Why Do Community Service Work?
It helps the community
It helps those in need
It can boost your self-confidence and well-being
It raises social awareness of the work you're doing
It can help you network and make new friends/acquaintances
It provides a positive example to your fellow man

If you are interested in being a strong community service RLSH, you may want to follow these steps:
Come up with a positive superhero persona
Work with a designer or seamstress to create a fantastic superhero suit. You want something flashy and easily recognizable as a superhero uniform.
Create a website that allows you to blog and share photos, video, and links. The color scheme should reflect your superhero color palette. You should also connect to social media.
Create social media accounts for your superhero persona. This includes a superhero email.
Determine your community service schedule and begin arranging where you'll spend your time.
Begin your community service in uniform. Always try to get photos and/or video. Give credit to whoever is also in the photos or videos with you.
Strive to be positive or at least concerned/compassionate. Never be negative if you can help it.
