RLSH Work: Safety & Crime Patrol

Safety and crime patrol is possibly the first thing most people think of when it comes to the word “superhero”.  We immediately reflect upon comic book characters.  Safety and crime patrol is often done on a regular basis with a handful of patrol routes with the goal of being there if medical aid is needed and/or if crime prevention is needed.  The other side of these patrols is to provide additional eyes, which can be beneficial with helping the police.

RLSH who go out on safety and crime patrol typically have some sort of armor, a first aid kit, and various other items such as a bodycam.  Most do not carry weapons and if they do, then it's non-lethal and used for defense.

Training for this type of RLSH work: First aid/CPR/AED certification, de-escalation training, martial arts

Additionally, RLSH who do this work are often interested in the legal system, ethics and morality, detective work, and psychology.  Some get degrees in these fields, while others just read up on it.

  • Drug dealing

  • Vandalism

  • Street violence
