Finally got out for an evening patrol, though it was a little on the early side. I didn't take any photos, which I'm not regretting. I'll have to get some next time.
My route took me around the downtown Fairbanks, Alaska area - 1.83 miles according the route I mapped out earlier in the day. Since I haven't been out on a patrol in a few years, this was strictly information gathering. The next one will be the same. My goal was to begin observing who and what is normal in the area I plan to make a regular patrol. This way, I can start recognizing what is NOT normal.
Tonight was uneventful. People were out, a few dogs barked at me, didn't see anyone vandalizing anything, and I wasn't needed for first aid response or stopping any negative situations.
I decided that my first few patrols is going to be aimed at keeping things simple. Walking my route, observing, stepping in only if I need to, and heading home afterwards. I might start making a stop for coffee at the end of my patrol. I haven't really decided fully on that.
For right now, my patrols are being planned to happen once a week.
