Answering The Internet's Questions

I asked Google for the top 10 questions asked about the real life superhero movement. If you want to give it a shot, go ahead and answer the following questions yourself.

What actually is a "Real Life Superhero"?
A real life superhero (RLSH) movement is filled with altruistic people trying to make a positive difference in the world around them from crime/safety patrols to homeless outreach to issue awareness.
Do you have super powers?
No, but RLSH tend to be First Aid/CPR/AED certified and have some sort de-escalation training.
Why wear a costume?
For some people, they wear a uniform (we don't call it a costume) to help protect their identity. Most RLSH tend to have a uniform to a) help distinguish themselves from everyone else, b) psychologically it helps get us into a certain mindset, and c) if you look like a superhero then you may be regarded as a superhero.
Aren't you just vigilantes?
No. RLSH who are out on patrol are essentially looking for people to help in one way or another. This may mean defending themselves or another person or property from harm within reason. They are also willing to be friendly or cordial to the police. Vigilantes tend to ignore law enforcement to a certain degree and attempt to take matters in their own hands - which may violate a person(s) rights.
What specific crimes have you prevented?
In a general sense, being out on a crime patrol basically gets another set of eyes on whatever scene we may come across. The presence of a person can easily be enough to deter crime. Personally, the biggest issue that I've had to deal with would be harassment by intoxicated people. We get a lot of tourists and the last thing we need are tourists (and locals) being bothered by the goobers who like to hangout downtown either drunk or high (both?).
Are you in danger of being attacked or arrested?
Arrested? No. I don't tend to present a reason for that action. Attacked? Possibly. I get harassed, but I am fully capable of defending myself.
What motivates you to do this?
A lifetime of reading comic books.
What do you do for the homeless?
We have some homeless people in the middle of Alaska, but not a ton. I really don't do homeless handouts unless I'm down in the lower 48. My focus is crime and safety patrol, which extends to everyone.
How do you handle your personal life/finances?
I work full time. I regularly hit the gym since I'm an amateur bodybuilder. I have some IRAs and stuff. This is a weird question.
How can I become a real-life superhero?
Figure out why you want to do this. Put together some sort of superhero outfit that you are comfortable with. Go do your thing. I have a lot written about this, so I'd suggest hitting up RLSH 101 to read up on getting started.

On an entire other note, if you are an RLSH, please take a moment to fill out this RLSH 2026 Demographics Survey. It's anonymous. Just looking to gather some general information to study. It will end up becoming an article after the end of the year.
