Heroic MedPacks

Most RLSH tend to carry some sort of first aid on them. All RLSH that I have asked, have stated that they are First Aid, CPR, AED certified through the Red Cross, at the minimum. At the end of the post, I’ll have links to various training programs, most of which are either online or are online/in-person.

When you put your medpacks together, make sure you have a good pack for it. It should be something that can attach to a belt without sliding around. If it slides around, see if you can use some velcro or snaps to hold it in place. If you are new or are interested in putting together some sort of medpack, I have some lists for you. The first part is “definitely have” and the second part is “extra useful stuff”. These lists are geared for real life superheroes.

Definitely Have
Nitrile gloves (multiple pairs)
1-way valve CPR shields (multiple pairs)
Bandaids
Gauze pads (not loose)
Cloth tape
Bleed control gauze (for wound packing)
Ace bandage
Tourniquet
Space blanket
Hand sanitizer
Narcan
You’ll notice that there are no medicines listed here. You should not be giving out medicine to anyone, even basic pain relievers (i.g. Advil, Tylenol, Bayer, etc) since you don’t know if it will negatively affect them. Also, if you don't know what something is and you don't know how to use it, DO NOT HAVE IT. Everything you carry should be something you know how to use.

Extra Useful Stuff
Blister pack
SAM splint + Super wrap
Skin glue
Mini-closure strips
Burn gel
Hydration drink packets (with electrolytes)
Snake bite kit
Bug bite kit
Saline (eye wash)
Glowstick
Instant Cold Pack
Training
Red Cross - First Aid/CPR/AED, lifeguard, severe trauma first aid, bloodborne pathogens, etc
My Medic - Gunshot wound training
Alison - Health, safety, nutrition, etc
Hazmat School - DOT, OSHA, EPA, first responder courses

Hopefully this was helpful and can help you build out a solid medpack.
